‘Pink Skip’ into Action to help the British Heart Foundation

Everyone wins with BHF and Pink Skip partnership: householders give to charity, charities generate income, people in need benefit and landfill reduces.

December 14th 2011 We all know that feeling of wanting to de-clutter and get rid of unwanted items – once a skip arrives it’s so easy to dump everything in one go. But at some point in the process we all probably utter the words ‘This looks too good for the skip; I should really give it to charity’.

Well Pink Skip Hire agree.

MD Shirley Bell explains:

“Re-cycling is one of our key strategies for 2012. Skips that come into the transfer station often contain many items that could be of great use to others in hard times…. unwanted clothing, books, CD, games and, toys. All of these items can be put to good use for charities such as the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The idea of collecting the charitable items in a separate bag is simple yet effective”.

So from December 2011 Pink Skips, who operate right along the South Coast, will not only deliver you a skip but will include a clutch of bags for the BHF to help continue its life saving work in the fight against heart disease.

• When you consider that: Nine books could fund a BHF scientist for an hour

• One pair of shoes could provide a lifeline to heart patients through the BHF’s heart helpline

• And six handbags could help the BHF teach a class of children how to save a life

Julie Paffett, Regional Stock Generator at the BHF adds:

‘What a great idea! We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Pink Skip Hire… Stock is the lifeblood of BHF Shops. We sell 80,000 items a day so we’re always seeking innovative ideas like this to help us continue our lifesaving work. Over the last few weeks we have run a trial that has registered an 85% return - fantastic!’

When you hire a Pink Skip you will be asked to fill the charity bags with suitable items (that you may have previously buried in the skip) and put the tied up bags on the very top of your skip. If you have larger items for charity simply place them alongside the bags. Back at the transfer station operators will put the bags aside ready for collection by the BHF and eventually a new home.

So everyone wins: householders give to charity, charities generate income, people in need benefit and landfill reduces.

Simple really!
