Date: 14th October 2014
Cambridge, UK, 14th October 2014 - CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), creator of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces that it has been named as a finalist for the highly regarded IET Innovation Awards. CCS’ innovation has been recognised in the Communications category as one of five shortlisted companies.
The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) Innovation Awards celebrate the very best global innovations in science, engineering and technology. The awards – now in their 10th year – span 16 categories, encompassing electronics, healthcare and sustainability, and are independently judged by a panel of more than 80 esteemed industry and academic experts. Entry for the awards is extremely competitive, and this year the IET received a record number of entries across all 16 award categories – over 400 submissions from 30 countries. The winners will be announced at a black tie award ceremony in London on 19 November 2014, hosted by technology writer and TV presenter Kate Russell.
Following hot on the heels of a World Communication Awards shortlisting earlier this month, this latest awards nod boosts a bumper award season for CCS. Already this year, CCS has won a Small Cell Forum Industry Award (Backhaul Design and Technology Innovation category), a Cambridge News Top Innovations 2014 award, and has been shortlisted for the Leading Lights Awards 2014 (Best New Mobile Product category).
CCS’ small cell backhaul system is the only solution to meet all key requirements of mobile network operators. With self-organising, self-healing capabilities, the small outdoor devices provide a resilient network of high capacity and low latency, as well as being easily installed in less than fifteen minutes. Earlier this year, CCS announced its first commercial deployment with China Mobile – the world’s largest mobile operator – in one of China Mobile’s first outdoor deployments of 4G LTE-TDD small cells.
Commenting on CCS’ IET Innovation Award shortlisting, CEO and Co-Founder Steve Greaves said: “We are immensely proud of our achievement in delivering the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system, and to receive this recognition from an international organisation of the calibre of the IET is very satisfying.”
