Beijing, 22nd September 2016 – AsiaInfo has been rated at CMMI maturity level 5 across a number of sites and projects in its headquarters in China. The independent appraisal covers ten projects in five different centres and includes some 21 domains and software processes – including work in cloud technology.
The CMMI Institute is the organisation behind the globally adopted capability and maturity benchmarking framework that is used to help private companies and public bodies measure, define and improve the performance of their software and systems development and management.
CMMI Level 5 is the highest level of appraisal available and recognises that an organisation has an exemplary focus on continuous process improvement. The rating confirms AsiaInfo’s international standing and leadership in software research and development, organisation and quality management control.
Speaking at the conclusion of the appraisal, which was carried out by CMMI’s certified partner SineQuaNon, AsiaInfo’s CTO Yadong Jin said the achievement of the highest available rating was highly significant but did not mark the end of any process. Rather it showed that the company had recognised there is no end to the search for continual improvement.
“Achieving CMMI maturity level 5 for our software research, development and continuous improvement represents a significant milestone,” he said. “It demonstrates not just our ability to develop world-leading software and systems, but our detailed understanding of all the processes that underpin their working, and our determination to continually search to improve them.”
The CMMI process is growing in global terms with the numbers applying to be recognised growing by nearly 20 per cent last year. In total, in 2015 nearly 2000 organisations were appraised and earned a CMMI rating, but less than ten percent of those reached maturity Level 5.
