Date: 22nd October 2007
Abingdon, United Kingdom, October 22, 2007 – Toumaz Technology Limited, the leading provider of ultra-low power wireless infrastructure for body monitoring solutions, today announces that Product Group Manager Richard McPartland will deliver a presentation titled ‘Digital plasters for non-intrusive wireless vital signs monitoring’ on the final day of The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition (WHIT ’07, 22nd – 25th October, Vienna, Austria).
The presentation, to be given from 10:15am to 11:15am on Thursday 25th October will explore how new developments in non-intrusive wireless vital signs monitoring will empower individuals to better manage their chronic disease and well-being, through earlier detection and prediction of adverse events. McPartland’s session is part of the education programme at The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition (WHIT ’07), which examines health IT in the wider context of health delivery.
Toumaz has pioneered the concept of “digital plasters” for wireless body monitoring. Central to these solutions is Toumaz’s groundbreaking Sensium™ sensor interface and transceiver platform, which enables intelligent, real-time, ultra-low power wireless monitoring of multiple vital signs – such as ECG, heart rate, body temperature, respiration and physical activity (via a 3-axis accelerometer) – via standard handheld devices such as mobile phones. The unique combination of ultra-low power wireless and signal processing in one small System-on-Chip (SOC), allows the economies of scale of the semiconductor industry to be harnessed to provide highly functional, robust, low cost, disposable and non-intrusive monitors for a wide range of healthcare and lifestyle management applications.
Now in its second year, The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition is designed to connect leading health information and communication technology experts from Europe and beyond. The event focuses on deployed services and efficiency, and consists of educational sessions, vendor exhibitions, interoperability demonstrations, exchange of experiences and networking sessions and other professional development opportunities.
