Global Change Focus of Localization World 2011

Leading trends researcher Patrick Dixon opens conference on international product communication

May 31st 2011 - Future trends will play a central role in Barcelona from 14 - 16 June at Localization World in Barcelona. Patrick Dixon, one of the leading trends researchers in Europe, and considered one of the 20 most influential business thought-leaders in the world, will open the conference which focuses on international product and business communications. The conference will be held at the Gran Hotel Princesa Sofia and will be accompanied by an exhibition forum for industry specialists. On 15 June Dixon will deliver the keynote on the theme "Futurewise - Six Faces of Global Change and Five Key Innovation Trends".

Dixon advises many of the world's largest companies on risks and opportunities in the marketplace and his keynote speech will draw on his book "Futurewise - Six Faces of Global Change", which concentrates on six aspects of global change. These are Fast—speed will be everything; Urban—how the emphasis on cities will intensify; Tribal—conflicts of culture and conscience; Universal—the forces of globalism; Radical—the reaction against 20th century values; and Ethical—a new morality.

Relationships are another emphasis of the keynote. According to Dixon, over the coming decades relationships will shape every global business. He maintains that many-sided relationships are important in an increasingly mobile world. He will focus his audience on the themes of convergence, mass communication, cloud computing and administration as these trends present business people with the greatest challenges. With this in mind Dixon coined the phrase "Take hold of your future events - or the events will take hold of you."

Localization World's theme "Know-How for Global Success" aligns with this theme and the conference hosts experts giving presentations, reports on trends and leading discussions in their focus areas knowledge. These experts come from world-renowned companies such as SAP, eBay, Zynga and Microsoft. The overall conference program is grouped into five tracks which are optimized to address the needs of decision makers, communications officers and translators according to their unique needs. The focus areas cover general core competencies as well as sessions which go deep into specialized topics, says Ulrich Henes, founder of the Localization Institute in the USA and co-founder of Localization World.

The day before Localization World, on 14 June, there will be a special panel discussion for professionals responsible for marketing, internet presence, global branding and international sales. A panel of experts will explore issues related to how to improve and increase brand integrity and market share across cultures, languages and locales. The various aspects of successful global brand management will be addressed. Additionally, there will be a Life Sciences round table, a one-and-a-half day special session focusing on the challenges of localization in the medical industry. Recent announcements as well as technical innovations and quality improvement tools will be covered.
