Date: 5th October 2011
October 5th 2011 - Evolution of the Internet over the last ten years has led to a shift towards cloud-based services, delivery of massive content, web2.0 interactivity and a drive to find new business models to monetise services. The Technology Strategy Board in collaboration with the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, is hosting a FREE workshop to explore the implications of these developments and to showcase some demonstrator projects of advanced network services.
The event will be held on October 20 in London at The Montague on the Gardens Hotel, 15 Montague Street, London WC1B 5BJ. Registration will be at 09:30 with proceedings commencing at 10:00am. Lunch will be provided and proceedings will finish by 17:00.
The event will begin by presenting the approach and recent and planned activities by the Technology Strategy Board to encourage open innovation around all these issues and will be followed by presentation of four demonstrator projects of advanced network services.
It will then go on to discuss recent findings from the ICTKTN Future Internet Strategy Group and then to open up the whole question of the demands that services place on the network.
The debate will be catalysed by presentations from key individuals from across the industry. We will hear a content provider and a network provider discuss issues from their perspectives before hearing from a leading academic in the area of network structures, concluding the input with a view from government. Following these stimuli we will lead into an open forum debate on the future infrastructure model for delivery of Internet services in the UK.
There will be ample time for networking during the event and delegates are encouraged to take part in a lively discussion about future network structures and business models.
